Her business responsibilities have included management of regulated and unregulated power operations and a large energy trading subsidiary as well as the construction and operation of power generation projects worldwide. She has had extensive experience in business negotiations, environmental policy matters and human resources. She has served as a director of Ball Corporation since 2006, TransAlta Corporation since 2014 and Sims Metal Management Limited since 2014. In December 2017, she retired as a director of CH2M Hill Companies Ltd., a privately-held company, where she had served as a director since 2010. She serves on the advisory committee of the Center for Executive Women at Northwestern University. In November 2012, Ms. Nelson was named to the 2012 National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Directorship 100 in recognition of exemplary leadership in the boardroom and promoting the highest standards of corporate governance.
