He currently serves as an Operating Executive with The Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm, with which he has been affiliated since January 2007. From June 2005 to January 2007, he was President of the Land & Armaments Operating Group of BAE Systems, a global leader in the design, development and production of military systems. From January 1994 to June 2005, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of United Defense Industries, Inc., which was acquired by BAE Systems in 2005. Mr. Rabaut is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy and he served five years in the United States Army. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), and he also serves as a director of Allison Transmission Holdings, Inc., a manufacturer of fully-automatic transmissions for medium-and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, medium- and heavy-tactical U.S. military vehicles and hybrid-propulsion systems for transit buses (where he serves as Lead Director), and a number of other privately held companies. He previously served as a director of Cytec Industries, Inc., a supplier of advanced composite products. The Board believes that these positions demonstrate an extensive history of senior executive leadership positions in the defense and aerospace industries. His professional and Board experience provide the Board with additional perspectives about the aerospace industry, defense markets, international markets, and acquisitions from both commercial and defense-related standpoints, as well as market and sales trends.
